Bourbon Banana Split
@ Boxing Room

A trifecta of fruit, cake, and ice cream might seem too rich to follow up a deep-fried southern meal, but you'll regret it if you don't save a little room for this dessert at Boxing Room.

*Seasonal Dish*

The Dish:

A fat, moist slice of frosted banana cake is served birthday-style with a scoop of bourbon ice cream (just like when I was a kid) and a warm segment of bright yellow banana, just begging you to construct the perfect bite.

Key Ingredients: Banana cake, bourbon ice cream, banana

The Place:

Boxing Room brings a bit of the Big Easy to Hayes Valley, offering Louisiana Cajun and Creole cuisine from po' boys and fried chicken to gumbo and gator and crawfish etouffee. A big, open floorplan gives the space a festive vibe, and the staff is laid back without sacrificing quality.

Menu Musts:

The crispy boudin balls are an intensely flavor-packed way to start the meal, and the po' boy sandwiches at Boxing Room are as good as you find them in New Orleans.
