The Event:
Join us on Saturday, February 4th for a free scoop of FlufferNutter from our friends at Humphry Slocombe, makers of the weirdest, tastiest, and most charitable ice cream in San Francisco. The good people at Humphry Slocombe are generously donating scoops to raise awareness and funds for Project Open Hand, a non-profit that provides nutrition and compassion for the critically ill and seniors. Donations will be collected on site the day of the fundraiser, and HeardAbout will donate $1 for every scoop that's redeemed (so make sure to come get your ice cream!).
The Cause:
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world."
-Margaret Mead
The story of Project Open Hand is a story of how one thoughtful, committed citizen, Ruth Brinker, set out to change the world in ways that have since inspired others to join her. In 1985, after realizing that malnutrition was a serious threat for many people living with HIV/AIDS, Brinker founded Project Open Hand, which, since its founding, has provided more than 15 million meals prepared with love for the critically ill and seniors in San Francisco and Alameda County.
In December 2010, Project Open Hand partnered with Humphry Slocombe to create FlufferNutter, which marries Slocombe-made marshmallow fluff with Project Open Hand Peanut Butter. Now that's what we call a power couple.
Project Open Hand will be at Humphry Slocombe all day on Saturday, February 4th, sampling and selling their famous POH Peanut Butter (check out the video below!) and collecting donations. Each tub of peanut butter sold (only $4!) provides a full meal for someone in need. So stock up!
If you can't make it to the fundraiser, but want to support Ruth Brinker's vision of providing meals made with love, donate via POH's website.
