The Place:

Tucked away on the corner of Alabama and 20th, Atlas is a casual neighborhood joint with exposed rafters, rotating art, and a fantastic outdoor patio, where you can settle in with your dog and Sunday paper and soak up the sun.

Unpretentious and always bustling, Atlas is hands-down my favorite cafe/coffee shop haunt in the Mission; when I am out and about during the day, it's where I'm most likely to be found, perusing one of their many magazines, sipping a ginger lemonade, or perhaps writing features like this one. Their robust and reasonably priced menu makes Atlas a popular lunch destination, so expect lines during prime time.

Menu Musts:

• Sandwiches are the most oft-spotted item on surrounding tables...we highly recommend the Roasted Yam
• Soups, which come with a slice of baguette, are always hearty and delicious.
